Poppins is one of the new comers to this long tradition. With support for the Devanagari and Latin writing systems, it is an internationalist take on the genre. Many of the Latin glyphs (such as the ampersand) are more constructed and rationalist than is typical. The Devanagari design is particularly new, and is the first ever Devanagari typeface with a range of weights in this genre. Just like the Latin, the Devanagari is based on pure geometry, particularly circles. Each letterform is nearly monolinear, with optical corrections applied to stroke joints where necessary to maintain an even typographic color. The Devanagari base character height and the Latin ascender height are equal; Latin capital letters are shorter than the Devanagari characters, and the Latin x-height is set rather high. The Devanagari is designed by Ninad Kale. The Latin is by Jonny Pinhorn. I'm a creative focussed on telling rich stories to help brands and non profits connect with the world. I find myself regularly engaging in the juxtaposition of unexpected beauty, the hidden gems, the deep dive. I find deep meaning in creating empathy, amplifying the unheard and empowering others through visual media. Through my career I've focussed efforts across the globe from Spain to Chicago to Peru to Montana and Tanzania. It has forced me to become fluent in Spanish, learn to live out of a tent and brought me to the joy of being a bridge between different groups of people. I find myself regularly engaging others to help resolve conflict and leading through inspiration and knowlege with a strong entreprenurial spirit to keep things interesting.

Working with VisitKC for the past couple of years has been fantastic. When I first approached them with a plan for highlighting the Kansas City experience they immediately jumped at the chance to work with Pilsen Photo Co-op, where I have been working as a creative lead for three years.

The concept was to give a city in what is normally seen as flyover country the proper attention it deserves via a first person account to be used through out their website, in marketing and social media. From boutique hotels to food halls and classic diners my team curated the creative output in a way that tells a diverse and rich story. The food revolution has happened and Kansas City is here for it.

Fox & Pearl was recently named one of the top 10 restaurants in the United States by Esquire magazine. For the past year I've been working hard with their PR team to dive into what the whole story is around their food. A big part of that is leading my Pilsen Photo Co-op team to create photo and video content surrounding a series of farm and artisan visits with the kitchen and front of house staff. To bring the story to life, I directed long form interviews with the Chef Vaugn Good and his suppliers about why they do what they do. Accompanied with cooking process content and beauty shots of the final dishes, the viewers get an inside looks to one of America's premier eateries. From directing to capture to edit and music composition I led the task of creating uniquely authored content, start to finish. When award winning writer Jill Silva asked Pilsen Photo Co-op to come dive into this long term project I couldn't resist.

Restaurant Week is normally one of my favorite yearly traditions. Everyone is trying to find unique ways to entice new customers and show off what they do, the elevator pitch for a chef. This year with the pandemic Kansas City had to come up with a new approach. After some brainstorming sessions with the Visit KC team we created a marketing plan that mixed carryout and on site content for a core group of 8 participating restaurants. The images eventually were used for sharing on social media accounts, print/digital ads and on 5 billboards across Kansas City for over a month. Some of the restaurants reported having the best days they'd ever had and I'd like to think that some of my efforts helped achieve those sucess rates.

The concept behind the carry out stories was to find a way to communicate two different core ideas to consumers. Firstly, the quality of the food would be fantastic but also that the process of plating the food and sharing it could still be a unique experience of its own. Through visual and styling cues photo sets were created to invoke a scene where people were taking chef driven food home and safely having an elevated experience. From high end cuisine to gastropub treats everyone is in on the carry out buisness.

The Outdoors are for everyone.

In conjunction with Visit South Dakota and Huntstand I created a piece to be used during the fall pheasant season. The biggest attraction to South Dakota is their pheasant hunting opportunities but I worked with the team to find a more well rounded experience that represents everything you can do on a trip as a visitor. Every element from the music and voiceover to the cinematography and editing was produced by me in conjunction with my Pilsen Photo Co-op team. It was important to me to include diversity where possible to show that the outdoors are for everyone.
